For Janet, Jackson, TN has always been home—and in a sense, so has Roberts Jewelers. 53 years ago, Janet was 15 and in search of some Christmas spending money when she happened upon a job opening at Roberts Jewelers. She had humble beginnings, starting off by selling dollar costume jewelry and greeting customers. What started as a quick way to make seasonal money turned into a lifetime mission to spread goodness and joy across West Tennessee. Her hard work was not left unnoticed, and she was made manager in an industry that did not yet welcome women in positions of authority. Over the years, the Cohens witnessed Janet’s tenacity and drive to make the store flourish, so when it came time to hand down the business, she was the clear choice. This pride and joy of the Cohens became her own, and for the tenure of her ownership, she has seen Roberts Jewelers evolve from handwritten localized receipts to a business capable of nationwide e-commerce. When asked, she said the highlight of working in this industry is playing a behind-the-scenes role in important milestones—helping people to find meaning in pieces that can express how they feel when words fail. She also has a deep love and appreciation for the craftsmanship and one-of-a-kind nature of estate jewelry. Each piece in our Estate Collection is hand selected by Janet, who has inspected each piece for its authenticity and rarity. When is able to find time away from the store, she enjoys spending time at the beach and giving back to the community through her non-profit, Friends of Heart.
